Plumbers in the past must have been tremendously strong to actually install all the ductwork of a house. Not only are the old iron pipes heavy and inflexible, their connecting parts also present a huge task to fasten.
Time to finally part with the last remaining bathroom in our house. Some of these pipes will be salvaged for our new sink and toilet, while some will be discarded. And of course, the blue tiles will certainly be a "go".
We have started installing pod lights in our basement. As much as this type of light being so widely used, it is actually my first time to see how they get attached to the floor joists prior the installation of drywall ceilings.
Today is such an exciting day! The shower in our master bathroom is finally complete. We can finally take a nice long shower without having to ask someone downstairs to turn on the hot water knob for the bathroom upstairs.
Here it is, installed and ready for use in our master bathroom. The cabinet though, is still in the design process. The current one is only temporary for the mounting of the sink.
Rusts are often photographers' favourites, but not architects. So which one should I be? Good question.
After three full days of commuting more than two hours on the TTC to get to my training centre, I am happy that it is time to get back to work tomorrow. No more waking up at 6am in the morning! All I can say is, I absolutely HATE the TTC! On a happier note, I am, surprisingly, starting to fall in love with REVIT. The program is just too powerful in what it can perform for you in comparison to other programs. Life would have been one hundred times easier if I knew about this program during my last term of school. Unfortunately, it's too late now.
I absolutely love these old door knobs of our room doors; full of texture and unique character. This is the last one in our house that has not been taken down yet. I am actually considering of using them as clothes hangers in my room or our foyer.
I went out with ROK Choi today to do Ann and Mike's engagement shoot for the winter theme. Shooting in the cold is definitely a lot more difficult than in the fall or summer. My fingers were so frozen that I could barely press on my camera. Nonetheless, it was a great session!
On a side note, I would like to congratulate my parents for selling their condo!
These are a few of the finishes that I am considering for our wall of cabinets in the kitchen/dinning room. Still looking for the "perfect" one though.
The current condition of our living room...storage. But at least drywalls are up and we are no longer seeing the exposed floor joists of the second floor with dust falling down once in a while on your head.
How was life without a calculator? How did I go through elementary school without a calculator? I almost forgot how that feels like. People always have the perception that architects must be people who are exceptional in math, unfortunately, I must inform you that they are all wrong.
Tonight is the last night of the year of the Ox! I believe everyone must have been quite busy attending family dinners these few nights to celebrate the arrival of the new year. Now, let's wrap things up and get ready for some red pocket actions!
Looking at these new electrical wires silently making their way through the walls, it feels like our house is getting attacked by the tentacles of some unidentified creatures!
How do you ensure that wall corners are 90 degrees? Apparently, strips of L-shaped angles are fastened in place to make corners absolutely perpendicular to each other.
Don't worry, what you are seeing is not drug! They are just crumps of drywalls. Feeling tired today from work, so not going to say much. But it was a good night though, had a great dinner with some friends. The two hours wait was definitely worth it!
Here they are, sitting in our basement at the moment. Due to temperature discrepancies, they cannot be installed until at least one month later when the wood has gotten used to our indoor temperature. Meanwhile, onto the ceilings instead.
We are slowly approaching the finish line. Large debris are no longer found within the house, all that is visible are little dust particles left behind from the installation of drywalls. Our new hardwood floorings will be arriving tomorrow. Pictures of them coming up shortly, please stay tuned.
Right now, I assume most of you would be wondering what the above is. The object photographed above is in fact the connecting part to the underside of our toilet bowls. In other words, it is the poo hole.
Onto another note, our master bathroom's floor had been covered with cement today and it will be ready for the installation of tiles tomorrow.
You can purchase the most wonderful gears in the world, but if you do not possess the necessary skills to get the work done, these tools immediately become worthless. When you know exactly what you are doing, all you really need are the basics. I assume this applies to every field, no?
